TEHRAN – The IRGC Navy commander has underlined the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s commitment to protecting Iran’s interests in high seas, saying the force plans to expand its “operational depth” in faraway waters. In an interview with Tasnim, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said the IRGC Navy has embarked on production of oceangoing vessels in order to protect Iran’s interests amid international communications and relations. A failure to protect the Islamic Republic’s interests across the world will make them prone to piracy and organized banditry, he said.
